On a beautiful evening the
non-playing wives or partners of Holme Hall Golfers took
part in a "Golf Widows" evening. The format being a 9 hole
Texas scramble with the ladies doing the putting. The ladies
certainly could show the men a few tips on putting on what
are acknowledged to be the slickest greens in the county.
The winners of the putting, with
14 putts, although they three putted the first, were Elaine
Sowerby and Janet Foster. They just managed to edge out
Rachael Thackeray and Hazel Fleming on a better back six.
The Texas Scramble winners
with a net 31 were Mike and Marie Whitehead and Keith and
Louise Stephenson followed closely by Gordon and Judy
Abernethy and Richard and Viv Duncanson with a net 31.75.
The competition was followed by an excellent
Barbeque prepared by Tony and his staff. With the Club
President, Mr Ken Haresign, there to present the prizes a
thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all and thanks must
go to Sue and Ted Parsons and Sally Parratt for organizing
the evening.
Photographs below are of the President, Ken Haresign,
with Janet Foster and Elaine Sowerby who won the putting and
the president with Rachael Thackeray and Hazel Fleming.
