Holme Hall Golf Club – Ladies Section
It was a wet day for the Ladies Open AM- AM on Tuesday 8th
June, 2010. 148 ladies took part travelling from 27 other
clubs.
There were six prizes in all. The first three prize winning
teams were as follows:-
1st a team came from Cleethorpes and Lincoln Golf Club were
Judy Garton, Gill Kapka, Sheryl Gee and Karen Barron. 92 points
2nd place went to Kay Smith, Joan Hammond, Brenda Donnan
and Karen Buchan from Holme Hall, Gainsborough and Normanby
Park Golf Club. 86 points
3rd place consisted of Sue Brown from Holme Hall, Tracy Kirwin
from Woolaton Park, Maud Hjelte from Gainsborough and Karen
Winfield from Doncaster Golf Club. 84 points
Ladies Competitions.
Another busy time for the ladies with two medals and Barnaby
Cup being played in one week. The first medal was won by Sue
Brown 82-10 = 72 with new member Sheila Petchey taking second
place with 86 – 12 = 74. The second medal was won by Carol
Garton 87 – 17 = 68 from Margaret Grimwood 93 – 24 = 69 with
Ann Wright taking third place with a 94 – 21 = 73. The Barnaby
Cup is played in two sections one for the best gross which
was won by Jenny Kennedy with an 81 and the other for the
best nett which was won by Jill Haresign with a 82 – 14 =
68.
Ladies
The New season at Holme Hall started with Christine Stones,
the new Ladies’ Captain, driving in on Saturday 6th March.
She arrived in style in a “1905 Corre” vintage car driven
by her husband Colin. After changing to a decorated golf buggie
she made her way with her vice captain Jean List to the 1st
tee to drive 6 balls straight down the middle. This was then
followed by two ladies 9 hole competitions one on the front
nine and one on the back nine. The front nine winners with
41 points were, Sue Brown, Ann Wright, Sue Bassindale and
Emilee Taylor followed in second place by Joyce Robinson,
Sue Morrell, Doreen Bowring and Alison Cargill with36 points.
First place on the back nine went to Sandra Cole, Rose Dawes,
Sheila Houghton and Wendy Addy with 43 points followed by
Jill Haresign, Jackie Walker, Joan Tonge and Liz Day with
40 points. Christine in her inaugural speech thanked everyone
for making it such a special day.
Holme Hall Golf Club Ladies
The Ladies from Holme Hall have successfully played the first
two rounds of “The Mail on Sunday” competition against local
golf clubs. Firstly they beat Normanby Hall 5 – 0 in this
5 players match play competition playing full handicap difference.
The winning team comprised of Jenny Kennedy (Team Captain),
Jean List, Sue Bassindale, Sue Brown and Emilee Taylor. They
then went on to beat Gainsborough Golf Club, again 5 – 0,
with the team comprising of Jenny Kennedy (Team Captain),
Jean List, Sue Bassindale, Sue Brown and Joyce Robinson. The
Ladies section also held an Am/Am on a very cold and windy
day on Tuesday 23rd February the winners with a runaway score
of 77 points were Sue Bassindale, Diane Dewe, Judy Kelsey
and Winsome Riley. Four points further back were Eve Shepherd,
Jackie Walker and Margaret Sturmey. 3rd place went to Shirley
Wynne, Joan Tonge, Greta DeBoer and Rena Smith with 72 points.
This being the last competition to be played during Irene
Glennie’s year as Ladies’ Captain the players sat down to
a lovely fish pie meal. Irene then presented the proceeds
from her charity fund, £758.50p, to Mrs Enid Girling
the treasurer of The League of Friends.
Holme Hall Golf Club Mixed.
Saturday 27th. February saw the final round of the 2009/2010
mixed winter Greensome Competition. Due to the severe winter
one of the four rounds was lost, which meant the overall winners
were decided on the best 2 cards from 3,not 3 from 4 as usual.
There was a prize for the winner of each round, plus the 1st.
and 2nd. Overall winners.15 pairs took part with different
4 ball pairings in each round.
The Winners were:
round 1 John Morrell & Jean Watson 38 pts.
round 2 Stuart &Rosemary Cranidge 40pts.
round 3 Mel & Jenny Kennedy 45pts.
The Overall winners were Rod & Jackie Gamble 81pts.
And in second place were Mel & Jenny Kennedy 80pts.

Holme Hall Ladies.
Fortunately the ladies competition a better ball stableford
was also held on the Saturday with the winners being Jenny
Kennedy and her partner Elaine Farmery, even with Elaine’s
recent handicap reduction, they scored an excellent 40 points.
In second place with 38 points were Sue Brown and Sue Bancroft
who beat Sue Bassingdale and Shirley Wynne on a countback.
Fourth place went to Emilee Taylor and Ann Wright with 37
points with Elizabeth Leggott and Rena Smith taking fifth
place with 36 points. In conjunction with this competition
there was a qualifier for The EWGA and PING tournament with
Emilee Taylor and Ann Wright qualifying along with Jean List
and Enid Meadows.
Holme Hall Ladies
Holme hall ladies played an Am/Am stableford waltz in cool
conditions. The winners were Jean List , Enid Meadows , Sue
Brown and Doreen Bowring with 75 points. In second place were
Joan Hammond , Diane Dewe , Judy Kelsey and Kay Smith with
72 points . Third place went to Jill Haresign , Jackie Walker
, Sue Bancroft and Marion Belton with 68 Points . Fourth and
the final prize went to Sue Bassindale , Shirley Wynne , Elaine
Farmery and Joyce Robinson with 67 points.
The Ladies also played the fourth and final round of the
Detuyll Cup , the winner being Rosemary Cranidge with 35 points
and 19 points on the back 9 from – Margaret Grimwood 35 points
and 14 on the back 9 .The overall winner of the Detuyll Cup
with 2 cards to count from the four rounds was Emilee Taylor
with 71 points .
