Holme Hall Junior
Section
Here at Holme Hall we are proud of our Junior Section, which
we are trying to improve year on year.
The Juniors.
a) Pre-Juniors.
This section is for the 5 to 10 year olds who have not really
played golf before. We give them free lessons on Saturday
mornings, 10 am – 11:30 am all the year round and on Wednesday
Evenings 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm when the light nights come in.
These lessons are Free and are supervised by club members
along with our Professional Richard McKiernan and his assistant
Lee Day supplying the expertise. Everyone helping has been
CRB checked. For those youngsters who just wish to give it
a try we do have a limited amount of different sized golf
clubs available. If, as in the past, we have players who show
potential, with conformation from our professional, they are
allowed to join the Golf Club as a full Pre-Junior for a nominal
fee and would be able to play the course. At the moment we
have three such pre-juniors.
b) Juniors.
This section for the 11 to 17 year olds. They have their own
Junior Organiser. At the moment we have forty in this section.
Throughout the year we hold eight major junior competitions,
which are made up of approximately twenty rounds of golf along
with a new competition this year in the form of an individual
knockout. The juniors, once they have received a proper handicap,
may also play in most of the Men’s or Ladies competitions
where applicable. We have a Junior Captain and Junior Vice-Captain
and have a team who play in the North Lincolnshire Junior
League. The annual subscriptions for juniors varies between
£55 and £85 depending on age.
c) Junior Committee.
This committee is made up of Officer(s) of the club, Pre-junior
Supervisor(s), the Junior Organiser and most importantly the
Juniors Captain, the Juniors Vice-captain and elected junior
members. This committee meets on a regular basis to monitor
the progress of the junior section and to encourage new innovations
from the junior members.
d) Junior Sponsored Open.
We hold our annual Junior Sponsored Open in August, this year
it will be on Wednesday 4th August. This is open to all junior
players with an active handicap, with several categories of
prizes. This is our main source of income for our Junior Section
and we have been very lucky to have many generous sponsors.
So if you are interested in coming along to see what Holme
Hall has to offer, whether you are a current Junior player
of just interested in getting started please either just come
along on a Saturday Morning or Wednesday Evening or contact
the office or our professional. Please note that you don’t
have to have a family member or a friend who are currently
members of the club.
Our 2010 Junior Captain is Josh Raspin and our 2010 Junior
Vice-captain is George Robinson.
